In September 2015, I did an intensive (100 hours) course on fresco painting in the island of San Servolo, Venice, at the European Center for Heritage Crafts and Professions.
The Italian frescoes of the “Quattrocento” marvelled me when I first saw them in Florence, and when I was told about a course where I could learn this technique, moreover in such a beautiful place, I was immediately interested.
We were only a few students, with different nationalities, and our Master (Maestro) was Renato, an Italian.
With him we learned the History, techniques and art of the frescoes. We prepared mortars, grounded pigments manually and eventually we did some works on very heavy mortar “canvas”.
I painted 3 ephemeral pieces. One based on ancient Italian decorative patterns, another with what were my personal themes at the time, and the other one with just 4 elements.
