In the early ’80s I often worked with fabrics, lace, wool, thread, beads… Unfortunately I didn’t keep a register of all these works, before they changed hands. Usually the materials I used had an affective significance – lace, yarns, beads and bits of dresses, that had belonged to my maternal grandmother, textiles found in a garbage bin in Paris, pieces of my clothes that I particularly liked… I would draw, cut, sew… mostly small pieces. I remember my father saying – Do it bigger! Go big! – but that didn’t happen often.
